THEORETICAL

A major goal of our work is to develop theoretical models for how language is implemented in the brain. We recently proposed a neuroanatomical framework for syntax that attributes distinct syntactic mechanisms to two key language regions: hierarchical lexical-syntactic structure in the posterior middle temporal gyrus, and linear morpho-syntactic sequencing in the inferior frontal gyrus, pars triangularis (Matchin & Hickok, 2019).
